GUNDAM EXIA

海外の Web log だと思いますが、新作の『機動戦士ガンダム 00』に関して興味深いアーティクルを発見しました。DannyCho.com 内の "Gundam Exia" というエントリです。

Gundam Exia is the main mobile suit for the next Gundam00 series. Maybe it will look better in the actual anime.
I was surprised to hear that many of the mobile suits from the Seed series were designed by freelance designers - one of them was a friend of a colleague at Microsoft but I never got to speak to him about it. You'd think that there would be logic in the history and designs of mobile suits - just like how you see designs of the starships in Star Wars evolve.
I was quite disappointed to hear that Sunrise/Bandai just outsourced some of the designs. Its like they are churning out stuff so that they can merchandise the Gunpla.

つまるところ、ガンダムエクシアを含め現在露出している多くのモビルスーツがフリーランスのデザイナーによってデザインされたことを嘆いているようです。ちなみに、メインのモビルスーツであるガンダムエクシアはフルメタルパニックのレーバテイン同様、海老川兼武氏のデザインによるものです。

私自身は大河原氏のデザインでないことはある程度肯定的に受け止めています。それは、大河原氏のデザインは SEED DESTINY の時点である程度限界に達したと思っているためです。SEED DESTINY のストライクフリーダム、デスティニー両機は明らかにガンダムダブルエックスやゴッドガンダムの流れをそのまま受け止めており、斬新さという意味ではやや足りないものです。

それだけに、保守的で安心できるデザインとも言えますが、ある程度の斬新さがなければ商品としては少々苦しいものになるでしょう。そういう意味ではデザインのリフレッシュをした方がいいのではないかと思っていましたから、その部分に関しては少し肯定できるかなと。
